Toronto Raptors vs Milwaukee Bucks Recap (December 9 2009)
Brandon Jennings scored 22 points and handed out six assists as the Milwaukee Bucks continued their strong play at home in a 117-95 win over the Toronto Raptors.
Ersan Ilyasova and Roko Ukic helped pace a balanced scoring attack with 17 points each. Luc Mbah a Moute had 16 points and Luke Ridnour 15 with six assists.
Carlos Delfino and Andrew Bogut added 14 and 12 points respectively with both grabbing eight rebounds for Milwaukee which had lost four straight games but opened a three-game homestand Wednesday to improve to 8-3 as the host this season. The Bucks had dropped eight of the last nine overall.
"Of course you can never be pleased with the defense especially when you lose so many games in a row. But it's a good sight to see the guys coming out and playing better defense than we have in the past couple of games " said Mbah a Moute. "Even though this is not where we want to be the fact that guys came out tonight with great energy a great attitude defensively it helped us win the game."
Chris Bosh recorded 26 points and 10 rebounds for Toronto which had won a season-high three straight on the heels of a five-game losing streak. Jarrett Jack and Sonny Weems each netted 12 points in the loss.
The Bucks led 29-22 after Jennings ripped off 11 of the opening quarter's last 13 points inside a span of 1:36. Jennings sank a jump shot early in the second to push the lead to 11 and a pair of Ridnour free throws kept that same margin 40-29 with 7:45 left.
Toronto tried to stay close and put together a decent stretch through the middle portion of the period as a pair of Bosh buckets made it a 48-43 contest 2 1/2 minutes before halftime.
However Milwaukee finished out the frame on a 9-2 run for a 57-45 lead at the break.
The Bucks carried that momentum into the second half and were able to extend their lead with an early 9-1 surge as Ilyasova's layup produced a 72-50 advantage nearly five minutes in.
The Raptors surged late though and finished the quarter on an 18-7 run with back-to-back three-pointers from Hedo Turkoglu and Marco Belinelli shaving the lead under double digits at 83-74 heading to the fourth.
Consecutive three-pointers from Ukic and Ridnour opened up a 95-78 Bucks lead a little over three minutes into the final period.
Two quick buckets from Weems had Toronto still trailing by 11 with under five minutes to play and an ensuing 9-0 Milwaukee stretch helped seal the victory.
Ukic completed a three-point play with under three minutes remaining to cap the run for a 20-point advantage then answered a Raptors make with a three- pointer to put the Bucks up 115-94 with only 1:39 left on the clock.
